Description
Mostly footpaths. Some walking beside road. A few stiles.
From the car park we cross the road to Brush Hill. Good views as we descend down many steps to the edge of Princes Risborough and along the Ridgeway. Past Pyrtle Spring enjoying long views. Up partly along road to Lacey Green Windmill. Through paddocks and fields to Grimms Ditch briefly, past Lily Bank Farm. Though woods to Great Hampden. At about 11am stop at the in-barn restaurant at Oxmoor Farm where drinks, breakfast baps or pastries are available for cashless payment. Afterwards, past the Strawberry Gothic Hampden House, famous for film sets and once home of the historic Hampden family. Return through woodland with some moderate hills.
Prepare
Dress appropriately for the weather, there could be mud so if it has been wet good boots are essential, not trainers. Walking poles recommended for those who use them.
Wearing of layers recommended and small rucksack for carrying.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome and will need to be on a lead in many locations.
We will pass through fields which have potential for sheep, cows or horses. There have sometimes been Herdwick sheep on Brush Hill.
Booking
Booking not required for this walk.
