Description
Mostly footpaths. Some pavement walking beside road.
We stop for refreshment at the Crew Cafe in Wades Park, Princes Risborough. At about 11am. Toilet at cafe.
A moderately paced, quite hilly walk in a very picturesque area of the chalky Chilterns with great views in clear weather.
We will walk through hilly woodland toward Pulpit Hill, pass through Grangelands and Rifle Range Nature Reserve and cross Whiteleaf Golf Course to the pretty village of Whiteleaf. We will pass through Monks Risborough, (the oldest recorded ecclesiastical parish in England as recorded by a charter in AD 903). Also an ancient dovecot. Take a break at the cafe in Wades Park.
Afterwards we will take the Icknield Way up to the viewpoint on Brush Hill, not far from the start, back to the car park.
Prepare
Dress appropriately for the weather, there could be mud so if it has been wet good boots are essential, not trainers. Walking poles recommended for those who use them.
Dress according to the weather, layers recommended and small rucksack for carrying.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome and will need to be on a lead in some locations.
We will pass through fields which have potential for sheep, cows or horses. There have sometimes been Herdwick sheep on Brush Hill.
Booking
Booking not required for this walk.
