Description
Brisk pace, with a few hills and stiles. Parkland, woodland and other paths, some quiet roads and pavements.
Walking boots recommended and poles if you use them. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, bearing in mind that brisk walking may need the removal and carrying of layers a bit later on.
From along the Western edge of Tring Park we ascend uphill through woodland past the mystery ruins straight to Hastoe Cross, and along field edges, more woodland and quiet roads to Cholesbury Common and Hawridge Common.
We stop for a refreshment opportunity at the Chiltern Velo Cafe in Hawridge at about 11.00am, where savoury and sweet snacks are also available, (cash or card accepted) Toilet is available for customers of the cafe.
We return via Wigginton and through the beautiful Tring Park.
Starting point: The Woodland Trust free car park in Hastoe Lane, further up the hill than the Museum car park, beyond the A41 overhead bridge.
Prepare
Dress appropriately for the weather, there could be mud so if it has been wet good boots are essential, not trainers. Walking poles recommended for those who use them.
Dress according to the weather, layers recommended and small rucksack for carrying.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome and will need to be on a lead in some locations.
We will pass through fields which have potential for sheep, cows or horses.
