Description
Mostly footpaths. There is a small section beside road next to Ragpits and some pavement walking at Halton Camp later on.
There are some steep ascents and descents in Wendover Woods but the remainder of the walk is fairly flat but brisk-paced.
The walk heads quickly into woodland and South into Wendover Woods South around Boddington Hill before looping round and reaching the Visitors Centre at about 10.20am where we stop for 5 minutes to use the toilets. Proceed to Aston Hill and more woodland, descending to the Ragpits nature reserve where we will pause to view some early orchids. Short section along road, across cross-road and through the Cobblers Pits reserve to the Wendover Arm Canal which we follow through Halton. We leave the canal to walk through the exit of Halton Tennis Club where we stop for refreshment at their cafe at about 11.45am. If it's wet we will use disposable boot covers in the cafe if required which the walk leader will be equipped with. Afterwards we walk for 3/4 of a mile along pavements back to the carpark.
