Description
Mostly footpaths and quiet road.
From the car park we cross Hastoe Lane and arrive in an area of Dancersend Nature reserve which is renowned for orchids at this time of year at about 10am. Upwards through Bittams Wood, Down to the Crong, past the waterworks and up to Pavis Hill, the highest point in Hertfordshire. Along to Hastoe and Grims Ditch to Wigginton Bottom and we stop for refreshment at the Community Cafe in Wigginton at about 12pm. It's about half an hour's walk back to the Woodlands Trust Carpark from Wick Road and through Tring Park.
Prepare
Dress appropriately for the weather, please bring water to drink and you may wish to bring a small rucksack to carry a raincoat and removed clothing. Footware needs to be grippy.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome and will need to be on a lead in some locations. Please bring water and use your judgement as to whether to bring your dog if hot weather is forecast as there are some unshaded stretches on this walk.
