Description
Mostly footpaths. Some pavement and quiet road walking in Wendover.
From the carpark next to the pavilion we head for the church and on, along the Ridgeway Path past Boswells. Through woods up to Kings Ash and Lee Gate. Head North through Lording Wood and rejoin the Ridgeway Path at Hale Wood. Past Milesend and up to the toilets at the Wendover Woods visitor centre. Down to Wendover, including a steep descent. Pass the start of the Wendover Arm of the canal in Wharf Road and stop at a Wendover cafe for refreshment before returning to the car park. We may still have time afterwards to take a level route to revisit the monument and enjoy the great views.
Prepare
Dress appropriately for the weather, there could be mud so if it has been wet good boots are essential, not trainers. Walking poles recommended for those who use them.
Dress according to the weather, layers recommended and small rucksack for carrying.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are welcome and will need to be on a lead in some locations.
We will pass through fields which have potential for sheep, cows or horses.
